Not everything can be repaired

Most of our work keeps existing plant in service, and this page is deliberately not that. It is for the other case — when an item cannot be kept going, or the one the plant needs does not exist yet, and it has to be made.

A failed vessel has three answers. Only one of them is this page.

Which answer applies is decided by the state of the item. They are alternatives — a job is one of them, not all three in turn.

  • The item is sound and the fault is local.

    Repair

Re-tubing, superheater repair, burner overhaul and pipework replacement — in place, or in our workshops.

    Boilers, steam & hot water

  • The item is worth keeping, but it has to come out first.

    Refurbish

Valves overhauled and hydraulically tested, with the test certificate issued with the valve. Boiler panels refurbished. Motors repaired; pumps overhauled, repaired or replaced.

  • There is nothing left to keep — or the item does not exist yet.

    Replace

    We make the new one.

Tanks and calorifiers
Manufactured in-house for hot-water and steam plant, including replacements for plant already installed.

  • WeldingMIG, TIG and ARC
  • TestingNon-destructive testing

These are the methods our company profile lists. We publish no welder qualification, no test standard, and no inspection-authority status of our own.

Start with the thing it replaces.

Send the item, the drawing, or just what it has to do. If it is replacing something that failed, tell us what failed — that usually decides how the new one should be built.

This is our general line. We publish no separate breakdown number and no response time.

Useful to send

  • What the item is, and what it does in the plant
  • Capacity or duty
  • Operating pressure and temperature, if you have them
  • Material, if it is specified
  • Whether it replaces something, and what failed
